We Believe.....

. . . IN WORSHIPPING IN SPIRIT AND IN TRUTH

"Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshippers the Father seeks.  God is spirit, and his worshippers must worship in spirit and in truth."  (John 4:23-24)

"For it is we who are the circumcision, we who worship by the Spirit of God, who glory in Christ Jesus, and who put no confidence in the flesh."  (Phil. 3:3)

 . . . IN PROPHECY

"...The Sovereign Lord has spoken ¯ who can but prophesy?"  (Amos 3:8)

"But everyone who prophesies speaks to men for their strengthening, encouragement and comfort."  (1 Cor. 14:3)

"...to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues.  All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he gives them to each one just as he determines."  (1 Cor. 12:10,11)

. . . IN SPEAKING WITH TONGUES AND INTERPRETATION OF THOSE TONGUES IN THE CHURCH

"Therefore, my brothers, be eager to prophesy, and do not forbid speaking in tongues."  (1 Cor. 14:39)

"Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good."  (1 Cor. 12:7)

"...to another speaking in different kinds of tongues,  and to still another the interpretation of tongues."  (1 Cor. 12:10)

"If anyone speaks in a tongue, two ¯  or at most three ¯ should speak, one at a time, and someone must interpret."
(1 Cor. 14:27)

. . . THE WHOLE CHURCH PRAYING AT ONCE FOR SPECIFIC NEEDS

"When they heard this, they raised their voices together in prayer to God.  'Sovereign Lord,' they said, 'you made the heaven and the earth and the sea, and everything in them.'"  (Acts 4:24)

. . . IN GIVING AUDIBLE PRAISE TO GOD

"Praise the Lord, O my soul; all my inmost being,. praise his holy name."  (Psalm 103:1)

"After this I heard what sounded like the roar of a great multitude in heaven shouting: 'Hallelujah! Say and power belong to our God' ... Then I heard what sounded like a great multitude, like the roar of rushing waters and like load peals of thunder, shouting: 'Hallelujah! For our Lord God Almighty reigns'"  (Rev. 19:1,6)

"So what shall I do?  I will pray with my spirit, but I will also pray with my mind; I will sing with my spirit, but I will also sing with my mind."  (1 Cor. 14:15)

. . . IN MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS AS A PART OF THE WORSHIP SERVICE

"Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise him with the harp and lyre, praise him with tambourine and dancing, praise him with the strings and flute, praise him with the clash of cymbals, praise him with resounding cymbals.  Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.  Praise the Lord."  (Psalm 150:3-5)

"And I heard a sound from the heaven like the roar of rushing waters and like a load peal of thunder.  The sound I heard was like that of harpists playing their harps."  (Rev. 14:2)

. . . SINGING IN TONGUES AND IN ENGLISH

"For if I pray in a tongue my spirit prays, but my mind is unfruitful.  So what shall I do?   I will pray with my spirit, but I will also pray with my mind; I will sing with my spirit, but I will also sing with my mind."  (1 Cor. 14:14-15)

. . . IN STANDING TO SING

"Then some Levites from the Kohathites and Korahites stood up and praised the Lord, the God of Israel, with very loud voice."  (2 Chr. 20:19)

"After this I looked and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb.  They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands.  And they cried out in a loud voice: 'Salvation belongs to our God, who sit on the throne, and to the Lamb.'"  (Rev. 7:9-10)

. . . IN CLAPPING OUR HANDS

"Clap your hands, all you nations; shout to God with cries of joy."  (Psalm 47:1)

. . . IN LIFTING OUR HANDS

"I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands."  (Psalm 63:4)

"Lift up your hands in the sanctuary and praise the Lord."  (Psalm 134:2)

"I want men everywhere to lift up holy hands in prayer, without anger or disputing."  (1 Tim. 2:8)

. . . IN SINGING CHORUSES AS WELL AS HYMNS

"Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery.  Instead, be filled with the Spirit.  Speak to one with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs.  Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord."  (Eph. 5:18-19)

"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God."  (Col.  3:16)
